Finally, after a year of anticipation, I finally watched "Tokyo!".
And I'm extremely disappointed in myself because during Leos Carax's
segment, I was on the borderline of falling asleep. Only of course
to regain consciousness later to be able to fully comprehend Bong Joon-ho's
segment, which I found to be my favorite. Not to say, I didn't like Gondry's
segment which I found to be quite imaginative and executed in classic
Gondry style. I just found Joon-Ho's segment to be more aesthetically pleasing,
his use of close up and extreme close up shots went quite well with the narrative,
and the introverted nature of the character. Whoever they had on as DP did a good job.
Plus the end was classic, I always find the endings to short features to be more satisfying
than full length features.
